Push for the Playoffs

In an earlier post by Pee-Pee, Rick DiPietro got KO'd in one punch by Farmington, MI's own Brent Johnson. It was reported today that DiPietro is out 4-6 weeks with broken bones in his face. Pioneer of the astronomical life long contracts, Rick has spent more time on the IR than on the ice. This is just the latest blow (see what i did there?) to the Islanders and their efforts to remove themselves from being the perennial doormat of the league - bottom 4 of the entire NHL last 4 years and failing to reach 80 points during that span.

Since you probably didn't witness this happen last night, you should probably check out the highlights. In the words of the SportsCentre anhor, "Campbell, he took it..." 3 fights in the first 4 seconds. 2 goals in the next minute and a half. Too bad for the 'head shot' later on in the game, but that is another topic for another time.

The point is that it's the last 1/3 of the season and that means games get more intense, crosby whines a little more, the wings age and endurance are questioned, people in Atlanta are still trying to figure out why it's called icing if there's no bling, and we all get to enjoy more Barry Melrose in the morning. Enjoy the push for the playoffs.

  1. "People in Atlanta are still trying to figure out why it's called icing if there's no bling" hahahaahahahahahahaha!

I was JUST thinking this exact same thought...last night's game with all the fights, from what I saw, had a definite playoff feel to it...
some amazing commentary here from the stoner who was filming this on his TI-89...

  2. Every time they call icing I look around for a Smirnoff product being forced upon me.

  3. DiPietro's contract still has like 9 more years on it! What were the Islanders thinking? Regarding Cindy and the Penguins, they are toast, their best player can't find his car keys and their second best player doesn't have a knee. The East is Philly's to lose and they don't really scare me at all.
