The Decision vs. Melodrama

Last year, I invited a buddy into a fantasy basketball league and he declined on the grounds that he couldn't stand watching the NBA anymore. At the time, I scoffed at him and his reasoning but the more I thought about it and the more I watch pro hoops players, the more I realize that these guys are fucking babies. Go ahead...watch a Pistons game on FSN or ESPN (which they haven't played on in ages because they are worse than University of Phoenix Online). Every drive, every "hanging, rainbow gun off the high glass (A La Blaha)" is followed by someone bitching about a no call and complaining to the referee. What happened to the days of Magic vs. Bird when we were growing up? Those guys played with passion and heart and didn't try and win over the refs. What happened to the epic slugfests in the playoffs and where do these guys get off thinking they are God's gift to mankind? Why can't everyone just grow mustaches like Bird and stop complaining?

I think everyone can agree with me that "The Decision" will go down in history as one of the worst moments in NBA history. And even worse, I watched the whole fucking show! Now, we have the drama that comes with Melo's possible trade? Does he go to NY? Does he go to NJ? To tell you the truth, I don't care one bit and I have been an avid watcher of the NBA since I was in utero. He states that he did not want to go about this possible move like Lebron did, but stories about Melo flood sportscenter like the stories of Brett Farve's cock and Tiger Woods' strumpets.

So where do we go from here? I suppose I could stop supporting the NBA on TNT or ESPN, but let's be serious...watching this makes me chortle like a schoolboy. Do I stop playing fantasy basketball in an effort to take a stand against what the NBA has become? Not going to lie, it probably won't happen due to my man crushes (i.e. Monta Ellis, Durant, David Lee, Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace).

Bottom line...David Stern needs to get control of his boys that are running around like primadonna's. They make $10000000/year to play fucking basketball for 4-6 months/year! That is a dream for like 75% of dudes. Perhaps I will try my luck, grow out a blonde mustache, lose 40 pounds, and try out for the Pistons.

  1. It is absurd that Melo is actively talking about how much he wants to play for one of the New York teams in the middle of the season. Does he even realize how bad this is making him look?

  2. I don't think he does. And if you watched the nugs game last night, they looked unbeatable.

  3. Well if he doesn't get traded it is going to cost him at least $20 million to sign there as a drew agent. Just sayin'.

  4. he's gonna get his money no matter what because NBA players are babies and when they whine, Stern and their agents come to their aid...ugh...

and both of you fellas, feel free to post at-will...I'm curious to hear some thoughts on Brady Hoke

  5. I used to love the NBA in the mid-90's. The Pistons were never a real contender, but Grant Hill was really fun to watch, and it was fun to cheer for them. The league was full of great teams, and even though it was an inevitability that the Bulls were going to win, there were still exciting and compelling games played every day. The Knicks, Pacers, and Heat all played terrific physical defense. The Jazz, Rockets, and Suns were all excellent as well. It was a sport for men. Fouls hurt. You EARNED free throws. I'm not saying that nobody in the nineties ever complained about calls, but nobody was trying to sell these touch of a feather atrocities that get called now. I'm so sick of 6'7" 230 pound men flopping around on the floor because somebody gave them a little nudge. They seriously are emasculating themselves when they do this, BUT THEN they want to have this tough persona. I refuse to believe Lebron isn't a blubbering vagina. I saw him get brushed by Jameer Nelson once and he went flying. Although Lebron is way bigger than me, I am way bigger than Jameer so clearly I could beat the shit out of him. I have no respect for these idiots. They jog around all regular season barely playing defense unless it's the last 2 minutes of a close game. There is basically no incentive to play hard at all anyways since 95% of the league makes the playoffs. The league is a joke, and it starts with the commissioner. He allows these giant babies to act like this because as long as he's making money he doesn't care. I think it's an absolute embarrassment. I will not support the NBA until there is a serious renovation to player accountability. I'll just have to stick to college basketball where the athletes are playing hard because they want to.
